Default opinions on used boat and pricing

I am going to look at a 2004 Regal 2400 tomorrow. My family will primarily use it for cruising and water sports. From the pictures it looks very clean. Here are the specifics:

5.7L MERCRUISER 300HP Twin Prop

TANDEM TRAILER WITH BRAKES, Biminitop, docking covers, new premium travel cover, fresh-water system w/2 sinks, bathroom, large storage room, large hull storage compartment, built-in cooler plus a removable cooler, new stereo Alpine sub-woofers and 2 amps, front and rear ladder, docking lights, largeswim platform, removable snap-in carpet, middle front and rear cushions, table, 2 switchable batteries, Fast-Trac hull, efficient 5.7L 300HP Mercruiser, stainless dual prop. 95 hrs

He is asking 37,900, but said he is already willing to take 36,000. What do you guys think? What would you offer if all checks out? From what I've read Regals are great boats. Any specific experiences with this boat w/ this engine?

Sounds a little high unless it has been exceptionally cared for. NADA says about $29,000 RETAIL - that means from a dealer; you are not buying retail, you are buying from a private seller so that should be less. Also NADA is using pricing gathered several months ago, before fuel was $4+ per gallon. This seller should be VERY motivated and ready to deal. If not, find someone who is. In most areas you can't "swing a dead cat" without hitting 20 boats for sale. It is also getting fairly late in the season, remind the seller that if it doesn't sell in the next few weeks, they will have it until next spring. Also insist on a "sea trial" and have it checked over by an expert. A few dollars now can save many thousands later. That is too much money to gamble.

Welcome to iboats raglan. Very nice boat with an awesome I/O setup. The price is high. Go to any used boat website and search for your specific make/model for your area and then for the whole country. This will give you an idea of what people are asking for theirs. Print some examples out and show them to the seller. Offer 20% less than average and hope to end at 10-15% less. NADA is useless. The market in my area is flooded with "pocket cruisers" right now for sale and that boat price would be ignored here. Good luck!
