I have a 1971 merc 500 (13 spline prop shaft), bad lower unit. also have a late 60's 500 merc lower which is the 11 spline prop shaft.
Will the 60's 11 spline lower work inplace of the 1971 13 spline lower?
is the rest the same just the prop shaft different?
It looks like it will work, but I don't want to make things worse by trying it.
