I am considering buying a used Mercury 2 stroke, 2 cylinder, 7.5 HP with electric start. There are wires running out of the engine. To engage the electric start do I just make contact with these wires to a battery?? And then after the engine starts disengage the wires?? Or is there a switch on the engine itself that makes and breaks contact??

There is a starter button on the motor.
