When tring to start my OMC 140, the battery cable begins to smoke. Do I have a short somewhere? The motor will turn over, just overheats the battery cables. Please help.......
Thats a sure sign the battery cables or connections are corroded.
They may look fine on the outside but be in bad shape under the plastic.
Clean the ends shiny clean at BOTH ends...motor and battery..grounds too.
If it still does it replace both cables..
