I'm baaack! I did search on the forums for similar problems. Alot of good info on here, but not sure which avenue to take. Thanks in advance.
First of all 1989 60HP mariner 2-stroke, 3cyl A111055.
This could have been a coincidence. I hooked up a perko dual battery switch. About a week after I turned the switch on and noticed both of my batteries were DEAD! I charged the batteries and starting the motor. Hooked up my trusty voltmeter and they were getting lower a little at a time. Motor is not charging batteries!!
Looked in my manual. Tested the rectifier and had good readings when set to ohms. I tested the two yellow wires coming from the stator and the blue and red. I never recieved any signs of life coming from the stator wires. In my book it was talking about two more wires coming from the stator that weren't there to test. It looked like there were two wires cut off right before they entered the grommet.
Where should I go from here?
P.S. I disconnected the Perko switch and ran the Engine to one battery. That's how I tested if it was charging.
I'm not too savy when it comes to reading ohms. On the digital tester that I have when you select ohms, there are several settings you can choose from:
2K
20K
200K
2M
I went through all of these when I ran the test below. I did get continuity when I ran the test. But it came up like 6.86. What does the R x1000 mean? I really hope its the rectifier.... $50 vs $150 stator!!
Got suckered into going Bowfishing for the first time yesterday. Pretty cool little sport. Shot at a Gar, missed, and that was that. Saw alot of carp. Anywho will post results tomorrow..
