Hi,
Due to changed condenser, points and plugs I need to adjust the timing. I can find the timing mark on the pulley, but on the engine block is a plate with several marks: Which one should match with the mark on the pulley at idling speed?
What should the idling speed be?
Which mark should match at e.g. 3000 rpm?
Thanks!

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,...

If the Tab isn't rusted too badly, they usually clean up enough to read...

There's also a few pictures floating around the forums here that show the Timing Tabs on these motors,...
A Search should turn up a few....

Idle speed should be 650/ 750rpms.....

I think those motors like running at about 4?BTC,.. maye 6?BTC....
That's at Idle.....

No reason at All to rev a motor to 3000rpms to set the Timing....

Re: 1986 OMC 120 Timing marks

Hi again,
Yes, I managed to find a picture so now i know how it should look. Let's see if something will show up under the rust :)
If not, I'll find the TDC and assume 4? per edge.

Thanks for the tip!
