I have a 1999 Proline 17 foot with a Mercury 2 stroke outboard. I have the serial number and all but I really do not know how to identify the exact motor. The emissions sticker on the motor says 100-125 hp. First is there a way of identifying exactly which hp rating this motor is and second....the first owner had the cowl repainted, therefore there are no decals. Does anyone know what the decal on this motor should look like? I looked all over the internet for examples but I am not sure exactly what I am looking at. Thanks in advance.
There are places on the web that sell the decals, but be warned, they are pricey. I have a 1999 Merc 90HP and the serial ## plate says year& horsepower, I think a merc guy here can cross reference your serial number and tell you details. I attached a poor picture of the motor, i will try to take a better one later today if you want.
Well, mine has the exact same cowl and latch mechanism. Would the 90 be the same as a 100-125? If so, please do take a picture so I know what I am looking for. That helps a bunch, thanks.
