After my wife got me all worried about the story of the kittens, I had to get her back for it.

Saturday morning, I needed to get the boat over to the marina for pump out and to fill my fresh water tanks. We got up, I made coffee and we sat and watched the morning depression session. (news)

I flipped on the bilge blower and told her that I was going to unhook the power and stuff. She says okay. I started the engine and closed the cabin door and proceded to unhook the shore power and the coax to the satilite dish. I then unhooked the dock lines. Backed out of the slip and almost bumped into a pontoon on the next dock over, so I gunned the gas a bit to prevent hitting the pontoon. Finally I'm all lined up and headed to the marina.

All of a sudden I feel a smack across the back of my head. I turn around and she has a bit of a coffee spill on her along with a mean evil look. I hear her yell at me "Why didn't you tell me you were casting off"? It turns out that after I shut the cabin door, she took her coffee with her into the head (potty for your shore lovers). I had no idea she was in there. Apparently with me gunning the engine and doing a few quick turns unsuspected to her, well,,,,,,,,lets say she didn't smell like flowers afterwards :D.

Doing a payback that is unplanned just makes my day sometimes:D.........SS

Sounds like a demotion is in order. You might be going a long time before you get promoted again, if you know what I mean. ;):p:eek:

Sometimes paybacks really are not worth it!

I am more fortunate than some of you as I am the Admiral of my tiny fleet. Sometimes I am not the captian of the vessel I am on, but I am always the Admiral.

I get to decide on when and where to send our vessels, how much armament, food and beverage to take, the style of uniform on board, what speed to cruise and at which warf to tie up to. Once our fleet is afloat, I am the undisputed benevolent despot.

In other aspects of my duties as Admiral, I report to the Secretary of the Navy.

The Secretary of our Navy keeps the Admiral informed as to the funds available to accomplish the missions outlined by our Congress and what those missions are; oversees the maintenance budget, the monies available for fuel, drydockage, ammunition and expendables. The Secretary also informs the Admiral of the responsibilities of certain treaties, in that there are Ports of Call that can not be bypassed no matter how the Admiral feels about the natives; that there are certain Dignitaries that must be invited aboard, even if the Admiral and Crew don't think it wise, and that The Admiral must stand down occasionally from taking direct action in repsonse to overtly hostile acts from other vessels, lest a war break out.

I am also fortunate in that I as the Admiral enjoy a cozy relationship with the Secretary, so much so that I am frequently accused of being in bed with her. I feel that such relationships deserve a good deal of attention and effort as they make for smoother sailing.

Which reminds me to lay in an adequate supply of chocolate for this weekends cruise...........
