I have a 1992 trophy 2352, 5.7 mercruiser, Alpha 1Gen 2 outdrive, while on the water yesterday we noticed that water was coming into the boat thru the outdrive housing, some from up high where the steering arm is and more from lower in the housing.. other than bellows leaking, could anything else cause this..the bellows were replaced within the last year. We did have the outdrive off recently to have a shop replace a upper seal that was leaking lube into the bilge area, My ? is there anything other than leaking bellows that would let water in at a good rate.. My auto bilge would cut on every 5-8 minutes and pump out about 2-3 gallons...any insight would be helpful..

Re: Stern Drive leak

well assuming your transom assembly is all good and mounted correctly, the only way through that is the bellows(u-joint, exhaust, and shift cable)...and a couple small seals for cables and wires but I wouldn't expect a major leak through those. you also have the water tube that is bringing water in for cooling.

so I would assume the bellows. And with the recent work, very likely.
