I'm going to build another small tiller-steered skiff this winter, and have been wrestling with which of these engines to power with. I've had a Tohatsu 90 TLDI for the last six seasons on my 20 center console and love it except for one thing: it seems more like a 70hp power-wise. With a 13.75x15 prop I can only get about 5200 rpm with one other person aboard, and my boat is not that heavy. It only weighs about 800# and has 8 degrees of deadrise at the transom.

Because of that I'm wondering if the 50 TLDI would have a similar lack of power. A Honda 50 only weighs about 10# more than the Tohatsu, and by next year the Honda 50 may be available in the EFI version.
