We are looking at a 2007 cobalt that has been sitting on the showroom floor for nearly two years. Should this be a concern?

no. but get 25 % off for the depreciation of a 2 year old boat. the dealer wants it off his Floor Plan, in the coming ecomomy, the boat is going to get harder to sell as a new boat for the dealer.

I echo the 2 members above. Look around, shop, do your part then go low, leave your number and wait for the call. This is buyer economy...

199675hpforce, you should start you onthread, not try to hop someone elses question and post a question instead of a statement.

i bought a 'new' 2006 this season, my main concern was that the motor had sat so long, but it runs fine with no bad noises, so take that for what its worth. search google craigslist to see what they are selling for, and dont pay much more than that. having a warentee is nice, but not worth taking a 5000 dollar hit driving it off the lot.

Our '06 was delivered in Oct. of '05

We picked it up in Aug. of '07

Runs fine. No problems that way.

The warranty begins from date in service, not the date of manufacture, so you will still have full warranty coverage. If it has been in a showroom, that is climate controlled storage; you can't do better than that. No reason to hesitate as long as the price is right.

Check the instrument panel for an "Hour Meter". That might give you a clue if it has been used as a demo or something else. Also, not all new boats sit inside a dealer's showroom. I see plenty that stay outside for a long time. That raises another question about "winterizing" if you live in an area that has below-freezing temperatures. Bottom-line is it should be better than pre-owned but should be examined closely before purchase. Good luck!
