vibration when turning

i have an 88 bayliner trophy with a 230 b volvo and a sp penta outdrive. I have a very bad vibration when i turn the wheel I am thinking maybe the ujoints in the shaft but maybe it could be something else.

U-joints could be bad or the drive shaft bearings in the bellhousing can go too. When driving straight no problem but as soon as you turn it can set up a vibration.
Undo the helmet and undo the hoe's camp and see if there is water in the bellows.Water=new u-joints. No water=Bearings. Jerry

no water in the bellos is the bearing a hard fix .

The bellhousing bearings are fairly easy to replace, once you get the engine out.

But I sure wouldn't replace the bellhousing bearing is they aren't loose.
Ujoints is the normal problem. They wear out even with no water in the bellows.
