I have a 88 capri, and on the trailer, the nose seems very light like the rear of the boat is very heavy, and during tow the front floats up and down and bounces, any ideas? wrong trailer, flotation foam in the hull:confused: water logged and weighing the rear down? or would that not make a significant difference?

...hmm, I have a bunk style trailer for my Capri. There was a couple times after trailering I didn't get the bow of the boat snug up enough on the winches rubber stop. This made for a subtle rocking or teetering motion like you describe. I just repostioned more of the boat on the bow-stop and my issue resolved. You may want to try that. Any pics of your setup?

My guess is that your boat may be too long for the trailer. My bunks actually stick out about two inches past the transom. I have a 17 footer with the orignal escort trailer.

Re: 88 Capri, weight in rear?

When I picked up my '85 Capri 1600, it did the same thing on the way home. Upon inspection I found two cases of tcw3, two mostly full 6 gallon gas tanks and one 9 gallon tank, anchors, ropes, etc all tucked in the transom/splashwell. After memoving all that stuff, the tongue weight went back to normal for the weight of the boat.

If there is a lot of weight in the rear, move some to the front while towing, and get rid of the stuff you don't really need onboard (like two cases of tcw3 and excess gas, etc)
