Mercury 9.9 motor runs & prop spins but no thrust

Recently while motor sailing our Mercury 9.9 went from cruising speed to the rpms reving up and the prop spinning without any force to push the boat. I checked to make sure the transmission still engages in the lower unit... and it does. I thought it was due to a shear pin, and I pulled the prop but I can't locate a shear pin in the prop assembly. Does this motor utilize a shear pin?

Your props hub is slipping and some prop shops won't repair the hubs on smaller props, if you have to replace the prop check the thrust hub on the replacement prop as there are 2 different style hubs and 4 different thrust hub that are available the wrong hub will destroy the hub in your prop and it's unwarrantable.
