Does anyone know what the stater output voltage should be on a 1997 Mercury 90 hp serial number 0G556770, and or where to find one?

The voltage depends on if the engine has a rectifier or regulator, Normally if the system overcharges or don't charge it's not the stator it's one of the reg/rectifiers giving the problem.

For testing, normally open circuit would be 12 - 20 volts idling, up to as much as 100 at full tilt. Rectifier holds it down to 16 - 20, and a regulator can let it freewheel.

If it ohm's out right, it's OK. You don't need to test voltage.

Rectifier you can easily test with an ohmmeter. Regulator, if it doesn't put out is bad.

hope it helps

Re: Mercury 90 HP charging

Thank you for your reply. It is putting out 9.4 volts at idle and 10.2 volts wide open.
