Well in a nutshell, I bought a 1973 evinrude 115. As I like to work on motors it passes the time and I got a deal I could not refuse. I figured at the least I would use it as a parts motor.
What strikes me odd is that the compression on all 4 cylinders is even but extrmely low. I know the compression gauge is good so that gets ruled out. I am seeing an even 40lbs across all 4 cylinders. I do not know how all 4 can be that even and that low at the same time. The motor was a fresh water motor so I was able to pull one of the heads off to look in the cylinders, besides carbon buildup the cylinder walls were smooth.
Any ideas as to why this is? is it worth working on or stripping it for spares?
Thanks,
J
