1972 Evinrude 25hp how to get it statred

Hello All,

History: 1972 Evinrude 25hp motor. It has been sitting outside unused un-started for over 10 years. It's came on a 16ft flat bottom stick steer boat and trailer.

I took off the carb and cleaned it real will.
Check the plugs...look brand new.
Replaced the lower unit oil.

Placed gas in the carb and pulled 15 times. With choke on & off...It starts and runs for 10 sec. Now I can't get it to fire at all.

What should I do to get this thing going? Please help !

Go to the Engine FAQs.

First do "Awakening a sleeping outboard". Then try her again.

If she still won't start, do "Outboard won't start" and tell us what you find.
