Default Buying a used boat - opinions please

I'm currently looking at three different boats and hoped to get some opinions.

There are two 1999 Rinker Captiva's 232 cuddy. First is asking 16,500. I think he would take around 14K. It has been dry stored on racks even in the summer. It has a merc 5.7 260hp and alpha one drive. No hour meter. looks clean. Hull only has one 6 inch gouge under bumber all other are small scratches. Downside, younger owner not sure if I can completely trust him. This is my biggest fear.

Second also same model, year and engine. Rinker. Orginal owner. 5.7 merc, but has Bravo 3 outdrive and stainless props. Asking 19,000. Any advantages or disadvantages between these two drives? Haven't seen yet, but supposed to be in excellent condition. Mine stored winters and trailered in the summers. Again no hour meter, but owner estimates 200 -300. Owner seems knowledgeable and more trustworthy, however asking a premium, not sure if he will neg.

Third is a 1997 Caravelle 23' 232SC Interceptor with Cuddy. Asking 13,500, but will neg. Merc 5.7 and alpha 1 drive. 320 hrs. Haven't seen this one yet, but should in the next couple of days. Supposed to be in good shape. Pics attached.

I'm sure I'm forgeting things so please let me know what you think and I will provide more info on the other two.

Are the Rinkers worth that much more than the Caravelle?

Thanks

Thanks. Yes they are fresh water. How do you know that it is not the original engine?

Merc has allways painted there motors BLACK so unless somebody was really carefull with that job (i can see overspray on the valve cover ) it is a bit strange for a freshwater area

The color is wrong. Of Course the original could have been repainted..............exhaust manifolds and all...............but who knows??..............then again if your going to repaint why not the valve covers also......

Good observations. I will ask about the paint job. Do you think it could be an attempt to cover up an overheating problem? Is there any other questions that you'd ask in regards to the paint?
