well I was about to go floundering tonight and get in the water and the motor keeps stalling on me , so I take the fuel tank out the boat and stick a screw driver in the ball of the fuel line and pump the primer bulb and there is no gas coming out the end so I take off the whole intake and notice there isnt a tube going into my tank but i hear it bouncing around in the bottom of my tank .

I pour the gas into a clean 5 gallon bucket and slide the tube back onto the black piece in picture and it keeps sliding off . whyyyyy in the hell would they put a tube that will slide off .

I notice the tube has a little kink in it from being bent but not stopping flow and my question is can I use a stainless steel hose clamp to hold the tube on the intake house assembly and not have to worry about the gas and stainless steel reacting in any crazy way . im not trying to pay 12 bucks plus shipping for that crap so the new one can slide off too

It would be helpful if you posted the year and exact model of your motor. The link you posted was for a 9.9 hp motor. Very often fuel with ethanol can soften the plastic. I would install a new part and make sure the tank is drained when the motor is stored for more than a month.

Go ahead and use a stainless clamp. It wont hurt anything.
BruceAML was quite correct about Ethanol. As this can damage other parts of your motor dont use Ethanol fuel and be sure to add Stabil or similar to your fuel. Then if you are leaving the fuel in the tank it will stay fresh and minimize the forming of shelac in the carb.
