Re: shift cut out switch

can we get a clue as to what motor we are disscussing?
a full model number will help.
if your testing this without a load on the prop the switch wil never move.

Re: shift cut out switch

thats an OX66 motor, it does use a shift cutout switch. the switch WONT activate unless the propshaft is loaded. wont work on a flusher.
when the switch closes due to the shifter trying to move a loaded prop shaft from any in gear position back to nuetral the ECU misfires some cylinders to take the load off the propshaft and allow the sliding clutch to disengage the gear dogs.
while the engine is running you can manually move the shift slide and trigger the cutout to test it.
it only works when coming out of any in gear position and never when shifting into gear.
