Default Advice on new boat please

Hey guys

Ive currently got a 16.5ft fletcher with a 75hp 2 stroke mercury engine.

However im looking for a change, as i have gotten quite into my wakeboarding, and im looking something with a bit more power and a wake tower.

My boat at the minute is pretty economical, 25litres of fuel wud last maybe 4 hours skiing.

Ive been looking at possibly a bayliner 175 or a sea ray.

One thing im curious about is fuel ecomony, i would like to go for something with an inboard this time, so either the 3.0ltr mercruiser or the 4.3ltr.

Is the 3ltr enough to wakeboard behind or would you need the 4.3ltr.

What would you guys recommend getting, im looking at spending around £8000 = $16000. i live in the uk.

I don't think any member of this forum would suggest you get the 3.0 for water sports, go with the 4.3 liter or you will not be a happy boater. There's a lot of nice boats in that price range over here in the USA, but more important than the brand is how well the boat was cared for if you are buying used, which your pricing suggests.

Thanks for the recommendation. 4.3ltr it is. Will probably buy off a local dealer as there is one close enough to me.

Could probably pick up a 10yr old prostar mastercraft in good condition for the same budget. Whats your thoughts on these?

Would i be better off with say a 1-2 year old 185 bayliner as opposed to the mastercraft.

The Mastercraft is a much nicer boat. Wonderful choice for a quiet lake. However, it will burn fuel a good deal faster. So the I/O boats are far more popular with most folks. Here is a link to another thread that gets into the different motor types -
