165 mcm can replace my 470?

hey guys. due to issues with the first engine, i'm looking into a possible engine replacement.

can the 165 mcm motor replace a 470 or is this an iffy situation?

Yes, as long as it is a 4 cyl 165, not a 6 cyl 165.......;)​

The block and head are the same, may have to use the old manifolds, or you start having problems with the exhaust system lining up. And trust me, that tube can cause big problems, because they have different bolt patterns on the transom shield.
Everything with those engines makes an easy change from year to year an exercise in frustration.

might have to use the old manifolds? i believe some of the manifolds need to be replaced (and / or possibly the head gasket) which is why i'm debating going this route to replace the whole engine.

i was hoping for this one to just slip in place of the other one.
