effect of lowering or raising motor.

1957 Johnson 35hp short shaft. Transom is for short shaft, but motor is raised an inch off the transom with a spacer. Will I get more torque by lowering and more speed by raising. (not tilting)

i ran my 35 and 15 of that vintage with a 1" spacer, and got great improvement, in the top and low end. you can get much higher, do to the water pump not being self priming.
