I'm been having some small oil leaks from my Mariner 135. The problem was actually identified last night as I was coming in from a real nice run up the Annisquam River into Ipswich Bay. I saw a stream of oil coming from under the cowl. I took it off and the cap on the oil resevoir had failed and oil was pumping out from under the cap. When I tried to tighten it the cap fell apart in my hand.

I've contacted the folks at the marina. Simple fix? There are wires leading into the cap that attach to a sensor of some sort. Seems simple if it is just a cap failure......but WHAT made it fail?

Re: Oil Cap on Resevoir Failed

Cap has been overtightened at some point, and cracked. Not uncommon. Shouldn't be too expensive to fix.
