I'm new here & wanted to see if anybody could help. I've got a couple of TRS trannys, that'll need to be rebuilt. I've checked other places and they all suggest that I need to take to a shop. I'm pretty confident that I can do it myself. I've rebuilt motors several time & as well as other mech. projects. Has anybody else accomplished this feat? I was curious, just how difficult it would be.
What may help is if somebody has or knows where I can get a schematic. That way I can see what all is inside and help it go back together easier. I just want to lose any peices in the process of taking it apart and NO surprises.:D

Get the name off the tranny and mod#/ser# and contact the manufacturer. You might have Velvet Drives

They will hook you up with the info. Since they are a Mercruiser item any Mercruiser dealer can help too. Make sure you change the oil coolers on both motors. It will save you another rebuild.If you are mechanically inclined it won't be a small job but can be done.
You don't say what part of the country your from but if your in Md. there is a Great repair shop in Annapolis. Jerry

I'm sorry, I'm in Texas north of Houston. There's a problem with your suggestion on my end. There is absolutely no numbers on the transmission or outdrives. Every dealer I called today argued with me trying to tell me there's no such thing. One of them actually hung up on me when I tried explaining the setup to him. The next problem is trying to find a rebuild kit locally. The only one I found was in WA. I've got another question, do I need to pull the outdrives to pull the motors & trannys?:confused:
