Default '88 Mercury 35HP shifting allignment HELP!!

I replaced my impeller and cannot get my F,N,R shifter to line up and shift properly. I think my part #50 is in the wrong notch on #43.........anyone know how to properly allign #50 so Forward, Neutral and Reverse works properly???? http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury_parts/412/160.cfm

#50 is your reverse lock, it prevents the drive from kicking up when you shift into reverse. if clocked wrong it can lock you in fwd, or neut/fwd. If you look up into the the upper housing you'll see the reverse lock pushrod that rides on the ramp. It needs to be on top of the ramp when in reverse.

1. remove lower unit.
2. rotate #43 till it's in reverse.
3. set #50 on #43 so that the top of the ramp is fwd when in reverse.
4. rotate #43 counter clockwise till it just shifts into neutral.
5. set control to neutral.
6. put it back together.
