Rebuilding Lower Unit - special tools substitute

I'm rebuilding a spare lower unit for an 1994 88HP Johnson. I've gotten to the point of removing the pinion nut from the driveshaft. Is there any substitute someone has found for the special tool Johnson requires which attaches to the end of the driveshaft in order to turn the driveshaft while removing the nut?

You can clamp the shaft in a vice to remove the nut. However, you need the socket to torque it when reinstalling.
