Re: mercruiser prop shaft question

Is the shaft moving in and out with the prop or is it just the prop? If it is just the prop then i would guess that it is just the rubber bushing inside the prop worn out.

The shaft does have some movement, but not 1/4". A sixteenth maybe but not 1/4"

Ayuh,.... Perfectly Normal......

I was going to say 1/8",.... But it might be closer to a 1/ 16"......

Can you a good reading on the shaft movement? Maybe a indicator on the end of the shaft or with a staight edge with a scale?
