Default early 80's evinrude 9.9 hp cooling problems.

my 9.9 evinrude was peeing great just a few weeks ago, but when i last took it out it was peeing very little and eventualy had exaust or steem "couldn't tell" coming out of the peehole. so i thought i had a water pump problem...i put in the new water pump and it didnt pee at all. so i thought i had the impeller turned the wrong way...and that didnt help any. so i thought there was trash blocking the tude so i ran wire up the tube from the pump as far as i could go untill hitting a bend....did this with the pee hole to, didnt do a thing. so i tried to blow air thought the system with a compresser and the tube from the water pump didnt alow air flow through...but through the pee hole the air came out the exaust pipe...can any1 help me...im out of ideas and stumped.

From what I hear the grommet on the bottom of the powerhead on those engines can collapse over time. It could be your problem.

ok so when this gromlet collapses will it block/restirict the water flow to the engine?
and how hard is this to fix/replace?
