It's been working perfectly the last few weeks, now today after running the motor in the driveway, I turned the key off and it didn't kill the motor. I even pulled the safety switch, but it kept running. I had to run it out of fuel to kill it. I did all the continuity checks on the key switch per the owners manual and everything checks out.

What do I check next?

check all the connections. It sounds as if one of your kill wires may have worked it's way loose.

Thanks for the quick response. Where do I find these "kill wires"? Are you talkin about the connections on the back of the key switch?

Quick question...

Should I have continuity in the black/yellow wire from the key switch all the way to the power pack?

Yes, it should have continuity from the key to the powerpack. Check for continuity at the big red plug (from the motor side of the plug to the power pack and from boat side of the plug to the key), that will tell you where to look. If both test good it might be a bad connection in the big red plug.

Red plug connection is good, continuity from plug to power pack is good. No continuity from key switch to red plug. Is it possible to cut the kill wire at both ends of the harness and use it to pull a new wire through, or should I just run a new wire along side the harness?

I don't know if you can pull a new wire through the harness or not. You might try cutting into the harness a few feet from the motor and checking for continuity there, just be neat about removing a couple inches of the outer jacket and not nicking the other wires. Odds are the wire has broken close to the motor where it moves all the time as you steer.

Thanks for the help and advice. I did check it at about the halfway point and it has continuity there, so it looks like you're right about being closer to the motor.

Thanks again to all.
