I have a 2000 Evinrude 225hp Fitch. The plugs are black which tells me that it is running rich. Is this normal? If not can someone suggest a solution. Also, I have been told that the open end of the plug notch has to be facing the injectors. I have tried to put in 3 different plugs and all 3 end up facing the wrong way. What am I doing wrong.

Thanks.

It's fuel injected. I don't know how to figure the ratio.

okay. I checked. It's definitely fuel injected and the plugs are pretty black. How do I know what the ratio is?

Thanks

Boat Setup has good articles on Indexing and de-carbing your engine. Personally, I would take the injectors in and have them cleaned and tested at a qualified service shop. http://www.boatsetup.com/

The OMS systems are supposed to average around 60:1 fuel to oil.
