wiring my tilt trim the easy way

I have a 1981 Evinrude E70ELCIM with not power tilt trim, I bought a complete power trim unit off EBay from a 1986 motor and want to wire it in. I am hoping I can do this without adding relays and wires to my motor.
I have a 3 wire, rubber button transom tilt switch like the ones sold here on this site.
Can I use this to run my power trim?
If I connect blue switch wire to blue trim motor wire, green switch wire to green motor wire, and purple switch to positive side of power ( solenoid or battery), will this work?

The tilt unit also has a positioning switch with 2 black wires, do I need this at all?

If you just want to tilt and trim the motor from the transom switch you can get around the relays. If you want to do it form the drivers seat then you will need them(relays) to act as triggers for your switch. You do not have to use the sensor wires unless you want to hook up a gauge. You should fuse the power line so you don't burn up your motor or your boat.

Based on your less than agreeable response, I looked around a little and I lucked out, I got a complete relay setup from a used motor at my dealer for $40. Plugged it in, connected to power, and it words great. No hacking necessary.
