It should look like TD's but if not, post a pic of it for better help.

It will work with modern push-pull steering, but it leaves a bit to be desired. This is the general idea (wrong motor shown). There are other options also. Parts are available here at iboats.

I'm trying to tell you that you need a transom mount kit upper picture) or a splash well mounting kit (lower picture) See the following parts for the transom mount:

http://www.iboats.com/Corrosion_Res....217127--**********.381466277--view_id.192758
http://www.iboats.com/Stainless_Ste....217127--**********.381466277--view_id.192760
There is also a angle bracket to connect the clevis to the steering bracket casting, I haven't found it yet. But this should give you an idea what you need.

THAT DOES HELP A BIT. i think i understand how that works. as opposed to the cables coming from either side.

TD, I have a question. Your Easy-Glide adpater is made to have the transom clamps on the ERude tightened down onto it. Is there a particular reason why you have it below the motor?

if you notice there is a step in the transom. the transom is a full 2x10, and had to be rabitted to get under the cap. the steer was a later ad on.
