Max HP rating for my toon?

I have a 24ft Mon Ark, it has a 60HP that wa bored over to be about a 70....I am looking to find out what the max size motor I can place on my boat. Can someone lead me in the direction to where I can find this on my boat? I am thinking about installing a 115 on it, but I don't want to over weigh the transom. Thanks

Your toon should have a coast guard rating plate on it that tells max HP. It should be somewhere around a 115 HP but you need to check the plate.

the rating is put on by the mfg. a boat will carry a bigger motor than the rating . that lesens the mfg co. of liabilities .

this is what the gamewarden told me .
my 20 ft. is rate for 50 hp i think

unless you want to deal with many legal problems, if a accident happens, or if the water polices check your boat. DO NOT exceed the rating on the Capacity Plate. that is a Coast Guard required item, and is approved by the Coast Guard.

Coast Guard may require it . i don`t go to the big water . fla. might be different .

OK went to the boat last night, and there isn't a CG rating anywhere to be found on my boat. On all my others they were located close to the captains chair or in that range. Are there any sites I could go to and put in the S/N and get these ratings?

mine is under the steering wheel by where your knee would be i have a 89 20' tracker and the max on it is a 95hp

depending on the year your toon is rated for around a 60 to 65hp motor

Shoot put a pair of BlackmaX 225s on it and do boat wheelies! Tell the CG it is a "test bed pontoon for the military" But you'll hafta paint it camo!

Just kidding! Put on a 95, Ill bet it will never be scrutinized by the H2O cops, plus, if you find a 95 put on the 65 hp stickers.......no one will be the wiser till you make like 40 on the water on the Tooner.

BTW, my SRV is rated at 150max and CAME with a 188hp in it!
