I've inherited an old semi-v jon boat from my uncle. It has a 58 evinrude fastwin 18 on it. He'd just had it tuned up before he passed. I know its been sitting for about 2 years, but it fired right up after about 10 pulls on the rope. I haven't actually driven it, just wanted to make sure it still ran. I hope to completely go through it this winter, but in the mean time is there anything I should do to it before using it? Should I still use 30wt oil to mix with the gas like the manual says, or is 2 stroke oil ok?

I've cleaned out the tank and replaced the fuel lines. Anything past that?

Thanks!

Re: prepping an old evinrude fastwin

replace the impeller. it is probably dry and brittle. 24:1 ratio TC-W3 outboard motor oil. great dependable motor.
