Behind the cover on the limit switch there are two stationary copper pick-ups, behind them are two copper leads that rotate with the drive.

My question is, are the pickups suppose to remain in contact with the leads, then cut movement once they travel off of them or are they suppose to travel in the plastic area then cut movement when they contact the leads.

My trim up stopped working but my trailer button works fine. Im tryng to diagnose the problem and Don S was nice engough to give me a manual to follow but its diagnostic procedure is a little vague. Thanks.

Ayuh,....

While they're making Contact,... It Works....

When they Don't,... It Don't.....

The Problem is usually the Wires, from there, into the boat.....

Thanks for the quick response. Thats how I figured it would work The reason I asked is because when I pulled the cover off the leads and pickups were nowhere close to one another. The switch is less than a year old, so Im gonna guess that I can pull it and re-align the contacts to get it working.


**Not sure how it would get out of alignment that much, but I did have the engine aligned and the drive re-installed a month ago (this was the first run since then). Even though there was no reason to remove the switch the guys there may have pulled it.... only reason I can think of.

FOUND THE PROBLEM.

The reason the leads and the pick ups did not line up was because the hinge pins were both loose. The leads wouldnt rotate with the drive. Once I tightened them back up and re-set the alignment the trim worked fine.


Does anyone know the torque specs for the hinge pins? Thanks.
