I bought a new 2006 Johnson 15hp 4 stroke, it came with a new tank & hose.
First time out it was cold outside +5 Celcius, I primed the buld pull out the choke gave it a bit of gas (handle) then pulled, pulled and pulled after working up a major sweat (50+ pulls) the motor started. The motor ran well.
The second time out it was a bit warmer +9 celcius, same starting procedure however it took more effort 100+ pulls after it was started it was ok. Guy at the marina says not to give it any gas, only choke when the engine is cold, well I tried that and it started after 25 pulls Better right? Is this normal? My 2 stroke started on the second or third pull. Oh I have burnt about 6 gallons of gas in the motor......
Today it is warm +18 celcius, I choked it, pulled and pulled. The only way it started is when I pushed the choked in.......weird.
Thanks
