1989 Mercury 8HP, 2 cycle. Owned since January. New fuel tank and fuel. Starts, runs for a while then dies. Happens at any speed. Able to restart a couple times then nothing. If it sits for a while it will then restart, although somewhat difficult. Runs again for a short time then sputters and dies.
Disconnected the tiller kill button but didn't aleviate the problem. Plugs are good. I'm leaning toward a coil problem? Don't know whether primary or secondary though?
