I am not new to boating, but I am not too familiar with pontoons.
I am currently looking at several pontoons ranging in size from 20' to 24'
Everything I'm looking at is at least 20 years old.
They range in horsepower from 35 to 130.
The question I have pertains to the boat with the 130 hp.
It is a Harris 24' with a 3.0 sterndrive.
The lake I live on has a very shallow and gradual shoreline.
Does a sterndrive on a pontoon require about the same amount of water depth to run with out hitting bottom as a run-about or are they mounted higher to run in shallower water on a pontoon.
What about fuel consumption...am I looking at substantial consumption on this toon?
Also might mention that none of these boats come with a trailer.
All the rest of the boats I'm looking at are 50 hp or less.
Most of them are Crest ...1 sylvan, 1 playbuoy, 1 weeres(1st time i heard of this one)
