I am basically having to stall out my engine whenever I want to kill it. I think it must be the kill switch that rotted off. I don't know anything about this engine. Is it supposed to have a kill switch? How do I replace it?

The kill switch is a rubber-faced push button mounted on the right front of the face plate of the lower cover. The wiring tends to deteriorate after 40 years. Trace the two black wires from under the flywheel on the starboard side to the switch. The switches are still available from your BRP dealer.

Sure, it is supposed to have a push button on the front panel. Replacement is simple, unscrew the retaining nut, put a new switch in the hole and reinstall the nut, and plug in the wires. The wires are a bit tricky to get out of the plastic plugs. There is a little prong on the wire terminal ends that you have to poke back to release them. Don't tighten the nut very tight. UM, I think you have to remove the front panel to get at the nut (?). OK, so you have to deal with the slow speed adjuster and choke rod to get the panel off. Did I mention simple?

Here was the problem with mine. Just check your wires from the kill switch.
