Evinrude Tilt & Trim

Okay after reading the post on tilt and trim you have convinced me to go with power rather than replacing my manual assist. Not to mention that the cheapest manual assist I found was $340.00 plus shipping. My questions are can a shade tree mechanic do this at home or is it better to have it done? Which unit is easier and better to mount Panther or CMC. I have a 1989 Stratos 15 ft boat with a 1989 40hp Evinrude. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

welome to iboats. never installed panther, but CMC is easy.

CMC is extremely easy to install! I installed one on my old Yamaha motor I had and it took all of an hour to do. Everything just bolted right on. No drilling required for me.

Basically from what I gather CMC is a self contained hydraulic system and the Panther is a screw gear type any advantages or disadvantages to either?
