Default Oil Leaking Out Of Carb???? 89 yamaha excel

Can anyone help me with a problem with my motor. its a 89 yamaha excel v6. There is oil leaking out of my middle left carb. It leaks when the motor is tilted and does not matter whether or not it's running, it still will leak out. This just started happening after I ran it on friday. Is there a valve or something that is in the oil pump that could be stuck open. I dont know to much about motors. Please help.

I had that problem many moons ago it was some one way valves in the oil lines.
Check the parts section to see if it applies to your particular motor.
They are between the oil pump and the carb about halfway to the carb.
Good Luck!

89 should have the old style pump with 6 nipples pointing up. if its been updated it will have 6 nipples,3 on each side, in a horizontal plane.
the old pump has builtin check valves and the later one inline check valves.
I have seen inline check valves added to the old style pumps. just remember the pump squirts in pairs and you will need to add the inline check valves in pairs.
eithet that or replace the pump as nessasary.
but first we need to identify which setup your running.

Does that apply in identifying oil pumps for other year/models of yamaha? I have those inlind check valves on my V4, so does that mean that i have the newer style oil pump? Its a 86 or 87(?) 115ETLJ. Thanks rod you are the man in here!
