Help With merc 9.8 hp 1964 model merc 110

This motor hasnt been run for 3 years. With fresh gas and spraying carb cleaner into every hole I could find with the cowl off it runs, but not very good. The plugs look good and I replaced the impeller, and changer the lower end oil. I can get it to plane out my 12ft boat with one person but not 2. It starts in 4 or 5 pulls and runs badly until it warms up about 3 min later but still has big problems ideling. I have run newer models of this engine and I know that they scream on 12 ft boats when they are running good. A place to start and any suggestions would be appreciated. Full on carb kit or just take it apart and clean?

It sounds like a good carb cleaning is all it needs, you might consider a inlet needle and gasket set at the time.

Thanks. I was thinking that should do it. I'll let ya know how she runs in a week or so.
