Default Mariner temp sensor 115hp

Does anyone have the temp vs resistance for this puppy?
The temp gage has a brown wire going thru the elec harness back to the engine, the brown wire is not connected to the pin plug, but exits with a female pin connector. It is not connected to anything. Should it be connected to the tan/blue temp sensor wire or does this brown wire from the temp gage need an additioanl sender plugged into the engine block?

No sensor , no temperature reading, so yes it needs to have a pick up sensor on the block. Should also have an overheat sensor.
