Hey guys. I have a 1998 50hp Johnson that has sat for one year due to divorce and the boat not in my possession. The motor was winterized in 2006. Spring of 2007 I prep the motor for use, ran it one time (which it ran great), and then it sat for the rest of the summer '07 and winter '07 & '08 not winterized. Now I have the boat & motor back in my possession and am trying to prepare it for the summer. I have drained the gas, replaced with new, replaced the spark plugs. After many many attempts the motor started, which resulted in much white smoke out of both exhaust and even out of the water hole after motor was turned off. This continued for many minutes after I shut the motor off. After inspecting the motor I found a small Y shaped crack in the block. I know this is a problem. Is it fixable and how do I go about it? Is it expensive? Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for your interest Tashasdaddy! Here is a picture of the powerhead. Look closely just above the flywheel left of center. It is a small crack. Wish I could give you a better picture, but the forum limits me on upload size.

Thanks for looking into it. Doesn't look for me. A friend told me that he knew of someone JB welding the crack and it worked. Bad idea?
