80 hp lu reinstall?

i dropped my lower unit to change my impeller. i put it in gear like the book said and now i cant get the thing to slide back up! its almost enough to drive me to drinkin! any advice on getting it back in?

Please try to turn the main shaft slightly and see if it will slide in.

Check the shift rod too. I just changed mine, and it went back okay.
