does 1983 johnson 25 have a tell tale?

model j25elctd . when i touch the motor it is alittle hotter than i think it should be getting while ideling. i am putting it in a tank so hope i am getting it in far enough. it is spitting out of the little upper exauhst ports. where is the tell tale if there is one?

Make sure its immersed deeply enough to cover the water pump. So long as the gearcase unit is completely covered and the water comes part way up the extension it should be OK, or is about 20" below the top of the what you have it clamped on.

The telltale is parts #24 and #49 on the cylinder and crankcase diagram
The telltale outlet is under the lower part of the cover on the LHS as you look at it, part #47 in the engine cover diagram (I think )
