Wow, I'm making my first post as we're trying to sell this boat. Went for a sea trial for a prospective buyer, and wouldn't ya know - no forward gear 
. This is the first we've had the boat in the water this year, but have hooked up a water hose and had her running on the trailer. Engine, and both forward and reverse worked fine on the trailer, but only have reverse in the water.
I tried searching and did find some reports of issues with the shift cables. Of course we'd like to see if there is anything else we can check and, hopefully, avoid pulling the lower unit off
Can anyone shed some light on this problem? I hate to shell out a large amount of money when we're trying to sell it
I see I'm now rated as a cadet....Guess I got demoted - came out of the Navy as PO2
