I just bought an Xpress X19 with an 01 200 Optimax on it. When i first took it out it would beep every 2 or 3 minutes 3 or 4 times and would beep constantly when I got over 4000 RPMS. It is spitting water fine and the water is barely even warm so it cant be overheating. The oil was low in the boat reservoir but had plenty in the one on the motor. I filled the reservoir up and took it out this weekend and had the same beeps.

After a while the motor wouldnt go over idle speed and the alarm would constantly go off for 5 seconds and then beep 3 or 4 times. it took me 3 hours to idle back to the dock.

I hope I didnt get burned by this dealer! Anyone have any ideas? Another thing I noticed is that this motor doesnt smoke AT ALL and I have never seen a 2 stroke that didnt smoke a little. Also, the oil that was in the boat was a blue oil and then I did put the Optimax oil in the reservoir that was gold.

THANKS!!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!!:):)
The beeping and constant tone are telling you something is wrong and you should not run the motor. Someone with more information will chime in to tell you exactly what the beep is for. Optimax engines being direct injected don't smoke.

Overheating. Let me know if you find out . So far I have replaced the water pump and now its being suggested to change the thermostat . My alarm has been going off for as long as I have owned the motor 150 opt. 1 year this month. water flow out is strong. Alarm goes off if you give it a little gas. Only on idle will it beep.

Hi,

I just bought a boat with a merc 135 opti 2001 and I am experiencing the exact same problem. However if the motor overheats isn't the engine supposed to shut down? It will only beep if its in gear. Anyone find any answers to this problem?

Thanks,
Steve
