I purchased a 1990 Eurosport 23 ft with a ford 1987 ford 460. I read the model on the stern drive and it says OMC 5.0 985271 which doesn't make sense. I don't know if the engine was swapped or the stern drive was swapped.I am trying to find out what stern drive I have so I can get the correct manual and check out the components for the stern drive. The ford motor was a high performance rebuild that spun several rod bearings. I am going to repair the engine and was wondering if the Stern drive mentioned will work and hold up? Thanks for any info

Re: Help with identification

Before you waste a lot of money on that engine. The exhaust manifolds, Risers, and engine couplers DO NOT exist anymore. Another thing that doesn't exist is gears for the 1.43 gear ratio in the Ford Big Block 460 drives. Probably why you have a 1.50 Small block gear ratio drive on it now.

Re: Help with identification

All you can do based on the drive model # which is from a 1988 5.0 ltr is get a manual for that year, either check on eBay for an original OMC factory manual (best choice) or one of the after market Seloc or Clymer (in that order IMHO).
